Details

In association with Gulbenkian, Folk in the Barn present Sara Jarosz.

Sarah Jarosz, from Austin, Texas, has earned her credibility in the world where contemporary folk, Americana and roots music intersect.

Her reputation is built on three fronts—she is a gifted multi-instrumentalist (mandolin, octave mandolin, guitar, and banjo), an expressive and distinctive vocalist, and an accomplished songwriter. A frequent guest on A Prairie Home Companion, and APHC cruise and summer tour alumnus, Sarah has appeared on Austin City Limits, the BBC’s Transatlantic Sessions, Conan and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. She has been nominated for multiple Grammy awards including two from her last album Build Me Up From Bones, as well as several Americana Music Association Awards.

Her current release, Undercurrent, her first since graduating with honors from the New England Conservatory of Music, features cameos and co-writes with collaborators that include Crooked Still’s Aoife O'Donovan and Nickel Creek’s Sara Watkins, Jarosz's bandmates in their extracurricular trio ‘I'm with Her’.

Sarah will be joined by Jedd Hughes (electric and acoustic guitars & harmony vocals) and Jeff Picker (bass)

Support- Sam Brother:
Sam Brothers is a 23 year old, Canterbury based singer-songwriter and performer. Whilst rooted in the raw traditions of the travelling Troubadour – he reflects the ever-changing world we live in through the wide eyes of his generation.
Sam is a massive talent - a remarkable guitarist and unique song-writer, blessed with an astonishing voice that recalls the gentle sensitivity of Nick Drake, but underscored by the screaming power and swooping range of Jeff Buckley……. And with something more; an honesty and intensity that is purely Sam Brothers. His songs reflect the truths that his single-minded lifestyle and tough choices have delivered.
